Fourth of July Weekend

Fourth of July weekend my family went camping up over yonder by squaw peak. I know what you are thinking.. makeoutville. Yes I tried to get Josh to head over to the peak to make-out.. even got a babysitter. He just rolled his eyes at me as though I was kidding.

Put those kids to work I say!!

Typical teenagers.. 'How dare you bring me to the middle of nowhere without my friends/boyfriend' They were desperate to find just enough of a signal to send out a quick text.

Awww.. best buds

Okay.. so apparently the first night we were camping, the people at the campsite above us saw a black bear. The ranger came by the next day to let us know in case we wanted to leave. 'It was just a little baby bear.' they say. Well, I say.. I bet it's mamma's not so little!
Anyway, a while later this truck with a bear trap starts driving by our campsite and stops just past us. We think hmm.. maybe they need to turn around. Then, they get out. So we think.. well maybe they need to adjust the trailer. This especially seemed to be the case when they got back in the truck. But SUDDENLY they are BACKING UP into the campsite right above ours. I was starting to get a bit nervous at this point. But figured I'd be realistic and they were probably just using the space to turn themselves around. Well, that idea didn't last for more than about three seconds because before I knew it, they were back out of the truck and UNLOADING the freiking bear trap. Still trying to be rational I was thinking.. they are just being overly cautious.. it's not a big deal.
After they left, we decided to go check this sucker out. I mean.. how often do you get to see this kind of nonsense in real life.. right? Well, apparently they stick DOUGHNUTS and RAW CHICKEN in this trap. So we start to think.. We are told to go to all this trouble to make sure ALL of our food and the remnants are locked up in our cars at night so we don't attract the bears to us. Yet, here they are putting doughnuts and raw chicken.. 50 feet away from us. WHAT?!?!

Aww shoot the picture that shows how close the trap is to our campsite didn't show up. I'll have to figure out how to fix that later.

On to a much happier note.. The girls all got their nails painted to celebrate the fourth and there were friendship bracelets and anklets galore.

We walked from camp over to squaw peak to watch the fireworks all across the valley (which sounds so much cooler than it actually is) It got WAY windy and cold before any of the good fireworks even started so we left. But it was fun to hang out anyway.
